The MSI Spatium M580 FROZR is a top-class PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, made for extreme-speed operation. But at the end of the day, it'll be aimed at anyone who wants ultrafast storage. Combined with 3D NAND Flash and the Phison E26 Plus controller, the 2TB model delivers up to 14,600MB/s reads and 12,700MB/s writes!
It's designed for demanding workloads. Gamers can use it for large game libraries. Content creators doing fast file transfers would also get the very most out of this. This will also help professionals dealing with hefty video data. However, speed isn't the only offering by this SSD. The heatsink comes with a passive design to keep full loads under control.
The Tech Atlantix Team covers its design and features before moving on to performance, thermal performance, power consumption, and practical use. We will also cover its pros and cons.

Now, let’s take a look at its features and specifications.

MSI Spatium M580 FROZR: At a glance, not your everyday entry-level M.2 SSD! The only other option is a large passive heatsink. The cooler is likely to be within 94.8 × 24 × 71.65 mm overall. So, a naked M.2 drive would be substantially shorter than this thing.
The SSD itself uses the M.2 2280 form-factor standard. MSI, however, has surrounded it with a beefy cooler. The cooler includes an aluminum fin stack and 3 heat pipes. These and other thermal pads help disperse heat away from the controller and NAND. This helps improve runtime quality and overall correctness.
Performance is where the M580 FROZR gets really interesting. That includes sequential reads of up to 14,600 MB/s on the 2TB model. Sequential writes hit up to 12,700 MB/s too. Achievable speeds make it one of the fastest PCIe 5.0 SSDs around to date.
This drive is clearly designed for deployment with next-gen software systems and supports OFC complete overclocking modes. Of course, these numbers require matching PCIe 5.0 hardware (upcoming). If you install it in older PCIe slots, the interface limits performance. Fortunately, like all the best SSDs, this unit is also backward compatible with older PCIe generations.
It is for your daily driving and operates exactly as you'd expect. Windows loads quickly. Large applications open fast. Copying massive files can also be much faster than with older SATA SSDs. The only time you really see the benefit is when you're moving large game installs around, or launching data-heavy applications.

High performance generates more heat by default. With PCS 5.0 SSDs, this is especially applicable. However, with the FROZR design, MSI has really focused on cooling, so it isn't all negativity!
Instead, this is a cooler with three heat pipes soldered into a massive fin stack. This means the heat produced by both the controller and NAND can be spread out over more surface area. MSI says it is up to 20°C cooler with passive design.
The M580 FROZR tops out at 11.5W when in operation, which isn't new for any PCIe 5 SSD, but it is rather power-hungry considering it is based on the older PCIe 4.0 controller. So it still serves some ventilation purpose. While the passive heatsink does a bulk of the work, your PC case airflow takes it from there. But its idle demands are much, much lower.
Reliable after extended use: the M580 FROZR. MSI has a 1TB model with endurance rated at 700 TBW; the 2TB version is aimed to handle up to 1,400 TBW; and finally, we have a huge 4TB rated for an insane-looking figure of around 3,000 TBW. And includes a five-year limited warranty,
MSI also builds in protective features like TRIM, SMART, LDPC ECC, end-to-end data protection, AES256 encryption, and OPAL 2.0. This isn't just about speed; it's about the drive. It also provides features that help ensure the accuracy and security of your data.

Here is what it offers:
· It delivers extremely fast PCIe 5.0 performance
· It offers up to 14,600 MB/s read speeds
· It provides up to 12,700 MB/s write speeds
· The FROZR heatsink provides excellent passive cooling
· It remains silent because there is no cooling fan
· Available in capacities up to 4TB
· Strong endurance ratings
· Includes advanced data protection features
· Comes with a 5-year limited warranty
· The large heatsink takes up considerable vertical space
· It can be expensive compared with PCIe 4.0 SSDs
· PCIe 5.0 performance requires a compatible motherboard
· It may not fit comfortably in every compact PC
· It can be overkill for basic office and everyday workloads
Best PCIe 5.0 SSD yet — MSI Spatium M580 FROZR. It combines ultra-high speeds with a significant passive cooling solution built into the device. It's a perfect fit for gamers, content creators, professionals, and enthusiasts who want the best storage response.
At 2TB, you get especially impressive performance, reaching 14,600 MB/s read and 12,700 MB/s write. In addition, the FROZR heatsink is not built to handle the heat that comes with this echelon of performance.
But it is not for everyone. If all you do is browse the web, run office applications, or play light games, then a decent PCIe 4.0 SSD is probably already fine for your requirements. The other way round, if you'll be shuffling humongous files around on the regular and need one of the fastest consumer solid-state drives in the business, then it is a choice to consider - namely the M580 FROZR.
