 Design and Build Quality

The first thing you see when you pick up the Sharge Disk Pro is that it feels solidly built considering its size. The housing is machined out of aerospace-grade aluminium with a matte gunmetal finish that is very resistant to fingerprints. No superfluous curves or flashy design elements - just a clean, purposeful build that fits right at home in a professional bag or a pants pocket.

At 52 grams and 10 mm thin, it's lighter than most smartphones. The USB-C connection is smooth and tight, and the machined lanyard loop on one end is a small but considerate detail. It may find its way into the bag of a filmmaker or the bag of a student, but it looks and feels the part.

This is where the Sharge Disk Pro comes into its own. Linked via USB 3.2 Gen 2, benchmarks showed speeds that were very close to the rated specifications:

In the daily chores, offloading camera footage, moving project files, running applications off the drive, it feels truly fast. Only very long sustained writes drop the speeds, which we discuss below.

Durability and Protection

It is evident that Sharge created the Disk Pro in the real world. The IP65 rating implies that it can withstand dust and water splashes without breaking a sweat. We ran it under a tap and through a dirt test, and it came out fine. The 1,500 G shock resistance implies that it can withstand falls up to the desk height on hard floors. On the inside, the NAND and controller are mounted on a shock-dampened PCB, which further provides protection against vibration and impact damage.

Thermal Management

At light to moderate usage, thermals are not a problem at all - the aluminium body is hardly warm. The limitation is seen in sustained writes of 30 GB or more where speeds drop to around 650700 MB/s as the controller throttles to protect itself. It is restored to full speed by a one-minute rest.

This will never arise to most users who are photographers, casual editors, and students and require reliable SSD storage. To those who have to transfer large 4K RAW files on a regular basis, simply consider a brief pause between the large transfers.

 Power Consumption

The Disk Pro reaches approximately 4.5 W under heavy load and falls below 0.5 W when idle - both very good numbers in a USB-powered drive. During our 60-minute battery drain test, it used less power than similar drives in major brands. When you work untethered frequently, this efficiency can be felt in a significant difference over a long session.

Conclusion

The Sharge Disk Pro SSD has the basics right in a manner that is difficult to disagree with; fast, tough, compact, and power-efficient. Its only actual weakness is the thermal throttling under heavy sustained loads, and it is one that is shared by virtually all passively cooled compact SSD on the market. This drive is confidently recommended to photographers, content creators, remote workers, and everyday power users.
