The Crucial T700 is a top-tier solid-state drive. It is designed for high-performance computers. This includes systems for gamers, creators, and enthusiasts. The T700 uses the latest PCIe 5.0 x4 technology. It features a Phison E26 controller. It also has Micron's 232-layer TLC NAND flash.
This drive comes in three sizes: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. You can buy it with or without a heatsink. The heatsink helps with cooling. The drive is built for speed. It has fast read/write rates. It also has high IOPS. This means it can handle a lot of data quickly. It uses the modern NVMe 2.0 feature set.

When tested, the Crucial T700 delivers top-tier speed. It is one of the fastest consumer SSDs available. The 2TB and 4TB versions are the fastest. They can reach read speeds up to 12,400 MB/s. They have written speeds up to 11,800 MB/s. The 1TB model is also fast. Its read speed is about 11,700 MB/s. Its write speed is about 9,500 MB/s.
Random I/O performance is also excellent. This matters for loading apps and the operating system. The T700 has read/write IOPS up to 1,500K. This is for the larger versions. These speeds are similar to those of professional enterprise drives.
There is one issue. Performance drops under heavy, continuous use. This happens after the write cache is filled. For example, the 4TB model's write speed can fall to around 3.7 GB/s. This is still fast. But it is much lower than the peak speed. For large tasks like video editing, expect this drop.


The T700's design has one key issue. It is hot. The drive gets very hot. This is due to its high speeds. The 2TB and 4TB models generate the most heat.
Crucial offers a heatsink version. Many experts say cooling is needed. This is true for heavy workloads. Without cooling, the drive can slow down. This is called thermal throttling. It may even shut down.
Desktop users may not need the heatsink. Their motherboards often have one. But for laptops, the heatsink version is almost required. This also applies to small PCs. The heatsink model is larger. It may not fit in all systems.
